eMail filter does not use signatures AFAIK.

Web filter is updated automatically every couple of minutes.

Could you please re-phrase what your question is - whether the FGT will update the AV signatures automatically?

In the web GUI, go to System > Config > Fortiguard.

Open "AV & IPS Download Options".

Check "Allow Push Update".

Check "Scheduled Update", "Every...3 hours" (adjust to your liking).

Now the Fortigate will fetch signature updates every 3 hours. In addition, as soon as new signatures are available from Fortiguard, a signal will be sent to the FGT to update immediately.

Hi ,

I have the same configurations as you suggested, but still AV/IPS's Definitions and Engines are two year or 3 years Old.

How to keep my definitions and engines up to date. Have checked the availability under PORT Selection, nothing happened.

Kindly help me on this.

Thanks in advance,

Sridhar S

You should verify the following:

- Are the FortiGuard subscriptions still valid/licensed?

- Verify the "AntiVirus & IPS Updates" panel at [link]https://IPFORIGATE/ng/system/fortiguard[/link]

Ah, it is a page located in the 5.4 firmware.

Please follow these steps if you're using an earlier version: navigate to to System -> Config -> FortiGuard. Expand the "AV & IPS Download Options" panel to view the settings.

Thanks for your reply.

It is schedule to update in every hour only, no other settings are applied.

Allow push update is not enabled.

Kindly help me on this .

Thanks for the quick reply.

Hmm seems to be ok, push updates is not really necessary for a good working update cycle.
