Yellow Shield In System Tray

I am running FortiClient on Windows 7 64-Bit. Why does the shield in the System Tray turn from green to yellow even when the database is up to date?

netmin, it seems like it takes forever to download and apply this update. When the antivirus failed to run, I gave the system a restart. At the same time, Adobe Flash Player was trying to update. I applied updates to Above Flash Player and AIR. On my XP the antivirus still runs. Right now I do not know whether to leave the program open on the Windows 7 computer or close it. I am hoping that it will update if I leave it alone because usually it indicates whether the database is up to date.

Forum members, the database just updated; but it still does not run beyond 13 seconds. Even though I want to run the Full Scan, I ran the Quick Scan just to see if it works. Neither scan works and, for Last Scan, the bottom line reads Never Scanned.

A few hours I deactivated the antivirus, thinking that reactivating it would allow it to run. Well, I could not reactivate it without restarting the computer. So, I powered down and went out. After powering up upon return, the antivirus is activated, green shield in the System Tray. However, it still only runs for 13 seconds and stops. This is Windows 7 64-Bit. There is no problem on the XP.

Last night I ran the antivirus in Safe Mode and the Full Scan ran 2:10 hours. However, I have found Windows Action useless in turning on the antivirus. When I shut down FortiClient yesterday I could not activate it, through either the program itself or the Action Center, without restarting the computer. Now that I am up, even though the green shield is in the System Tray, the Action Center says it is not on. Also, now in Windows, the scans run 13 seconds.

I don' t know if anyone is following this thread; but I just observed something. These 13 second scans are of just memory, which I assume means RAM.

It' s interesting that the scan would proceed in Safe Mode, but not normally. Could you compare the drivers, programs, and services that load during a full boot and login versus Safe Mode as a baseline? Maybe one of them is a known contributor to the issue.

Chris, I took two screen shots of the System Configuration Utility showing start up programs; however, each one it too big to upload. My suspicion is with Windows. This Action Center arouses my suspicion since it keeps notifying me that the antivirus is not on, even when in the System Tray updated. Perhaps it is Windows Firewall, which Microsoft gives one a hard time shutting off. Fortunately, I just learned how to run MSINFO32.EXE. Hopefully I can upload the log of start up programs.

Right now I updated my FortiClient on my XP and the update took only minutes, although the left side of the program box still shows a yellow triangle. Not the case with my Windows 7, on which I tried to update at least over two days. On that computer the update still is not complete.

What is your FortiClient version? The latest version is 5.2.1. If you have 5.0.x, the latest version in that branch is 5.0.9.

I have version 5.2.1.0605. The antivirus shows v. 5.00152. On the About FortiClient page, it shows that the antivirus signatures failed to update. Now I have my firewall open, trying to add applications from FortiClient to add and to allow permissions.
