Yellow Shield In System Tray

I am running FortiClient on Windows 7 64-Bit. Why does the shield in the System Tray turn from green to yellow even when the database is up to date?

kolawale_FTNT
kolawale_FTNT, the command line instructions and the removal of files you designated, which I could only do in Safe Mode, caused the antivirus to run. I did not have to click on Update since the program updated on its own after I rebooted. Thanks to all.

kolawale_FTNT, FortiClient is no longer acting as efficiently as I expected after applying fixes that you recommended. I am going to have to apply them again. Right now FortiClient is running on my XP after updating even while Adobe started downloading a Reader update. Just before, I opened and tried to update FortiClient on my Windows 7. It still shows that it did not update.

I just went through the same ordeal of getting the designated files off my system by going into Safe Mode. Now that I have Windows 7 back up, FortiClient updated, but does not run beyond 13 seconds. Additionally, I kept hitting the wrong icons while trying to find one that would allow me to edit this post after submitting it. Upon going into Windows 7, I meant to mention that there were more obj files in Safe Mode than I was able to view when FortiClient wouldn' t update in Windows 7. Last night I ran scans again after restarting Windows 7. We are now up to 14 seconds a scan instead of 13. Also, the Windows Action Center in Control Panel is useless in activating FortiClient. It even shows it in need of turning on when it is in the System Tray. I should not have to do this; but I am shutting down in order to reactivate it when it comes up. Last night I could not update MediaPlayerLite without shutting down FortiClient. This is not a reflection on your company, but on Microsoft. FortiClient runs well on my Windows XP, on which Microsoft, as well as other companies who ever made anything for XP, terminated support. Yet FortiClient is one program I have that runs better on XP than on Windows 7. Incidentally, I just learned what the yellow shield means before I went into Safe Mode. In the System Tray before shutting down the shield was yellow. My cursor over it indicated that it was doing a scheduled scan. Now, I learned that FortiClient is interfering with programs I used before with no problem. MediaPlayerLite is one. I used that program for radio streaming with no problem until after installing FortiClient. Not only is the program failing to play a stream, but also it blocks the manufacturers home page. Additionally, it interferes with the programs update feature, requiring me to close FortiClient, causing additional problems restarting it.

I am going to take FortiClient off both computers, even though it works OK on my XP. On Windows 7, it is still neither running nor updating easily. Besides, it is blocking access to MediaPlayerLite, both the program and its site. I used that program for years and never intended to jeopardize my continued use of it.
