Yellow Shield In System Tray

I am running FortiClient on Windows 7 64-Bit. Why does the shield in the System Tray turn from green to yellow even when the database is up to date?

during yellow status, have you checked the fortigate to see if it is still communicating with the unit?

With real time and web security enabled, I wouldn' t know with what unit it needs to communicate.

I' m not sure this is the answer, but I' m also curious if it is ... try running a quick scan and see if the status will change.

The status change back to green while I was writing the first post. Why did it change to yellow in the first place? I do not know if this is relevant; but Windows Action Center for the past two days told me to turn on FortiClient, which caused me to hit that option. Just now I noticed that message went away.

There are a couple triggers for the yellow shield, one is when real-time protection or web filtering is disabled, or somehow it' s not running.

Chris.Lin, I guess I made a bigger deal out of it than was necessary. Since originally posting, it has not turned back to yellow and did not stay yellow very long. Thanks.

During our tests we found that this may happen especially on slower or busy computers when signatures are about to be updated. If that' s the case, this behaviour is not unique to FortiClient, but also happens with different AV software.

netmin, I thought that was the only thing wrong until I just tried to run the antivirus on my Windows 7 64-Bit system. Now it is running on my XP; but on my Windows 7 it runs for about 13 seconds. The magnifying glass icon never shows in the program box. On both systems I am trying to run Full Scans. I had no trouble running antiviruses last week. What could be the problem?

We haven' t experienced this with the few FortiClients in tests, but from experience with different AV software it might indicate that the signature update could have failed silently or was interrupted. With other AV software re-running update check manually most often helped.
