Having a buggy client install that wont connect to EMS and wont disconnect from EMS either with the proper password. Cant shut it down so we can't uninstall it.
All documentation points to FCRemove thats supposed to be included in the FortiClientTools download for each version but can't seem to find it in the downloads for Mac Forticlient v6.4.9, v6.4.8, and still searching...

Thanks Graham,
The user ended up running RemoveFCTID before we had a chance to realize what it actually did and was intended for scripted image installs. For some reason this seemed to reset something that inadvertently corrected the EMS connection issue. The user is online and synced now.
Can you clarify how the client will not connect to EMS but also will not disconnect from EMS? Do you not have control of this client from within EMS console?
FCRemove as far as I know is a Windows-only tool.
For Mac you should be able to shutdown the client using the mac admin account password and uninstall it.
If you cannot disconnect it from EMS and do not have control of it via EMS console please confirm and we can look into it further.
Hi Graham,
This is correct, the client will not connect to EMS even though the EMS server is icmp reachable. It will also not "disconnect" from EMS when using the EMS disconnect password. The client accepts the disconnect password but no changes take place. This makes it so that the client cant be shut down by the local admin user or via kill command. It just starts back up immediately and cannot be uninstalled.
This is not an officially supported way to remove or disable the FortiClient software but it has worked for me. Also please be very careful deleting system files as any incorrect deletions could cause more problems on the machine.
Go to /Library/LaunchAgents and remove/delete any .plist files that have the name FortiClient in them. Do the same in the /Library/LaunchDaemons directory.
Reboot the Mac and you should be able to run the uninstaller for FortiClient to fully remove the remaining components and attempt a reinstallation.
If you want a more official way of troubleshooting this and fixing it I would suggest speaking to TAC.

The question of where to find the FCRemove utility has not been answered though. Can someone help please?
It doesnt exist for Mac downloads of forticlient, it should be included with the FortiClient tools for Windows.
