What is fortigate default qos policy?

Assume that I configure firewall without any qos policy, what is the qos default policy like?

Does qos implement need license?

I have a video server on a lan port and I want to give it priority. How can I do it?

Can I give it a static IP and prioritize it? If yes, pls guide me for the steps.

Can I give a general qos policy to faster video traffic? If yes, please guide me for the steps.

Hi @BusinessUser ,

For implementing traffic shaping it may better to do it via traffic type

Shared IP shaper for implementing based on traffic type:
https://docs.fortinet.com/document/fortigate/7.4.1/administration-guide/933502/shared-traffic-shaper

You can then create traffic shaping policy:
https://docs.fortinet.com/document/fortigate/7.4.1/administration-guide/673634/traffic-shaping-polic...

In the policy apply shared shaper and reverse shaper and define the traffic where you want to apply this

In the traffic shaper configuration, you can define guaranteed bandwidth based on the requirement.

Hi @BusinessUser

QoS doesn't require a separate license. We refer to QoS as traffic shaping. You  can find it on the GUI > Policy & Objects > Traffic Shaping. Default Traffic Shaping Policy is "implicit" which gives the same priority to all traffic.

You can create new traffic shaping profiles and policies to prioritize traffic based on IP address or application. Please refer to https://docs.fortinet.com/document/fortigate/7.4.1/administration-guide/297431/traffic-shaping
