Wake On LAN across subnets?

I have two Fortigate 3000s working as an A-A cluster in NAT mode. I have 50+ VLANs defined as subnets of the Internal interface. What I would like to accomplish is to have the ability to send WOL from one subnet to another. I think the Fortinet is automatically filtering the subnet broadcast (which is acceptable), but I would still like to get the magic packets through from one subnet to another. Does anyone have an idea of how to accomplish this? I am not particularly conversant with WOL so I am not sure how else it may work besides the subnet broadcast method. Thanks in advance for any help.

I too would like to do this. Is it possible? Seem like this is a very old post, but I' m wondering if anyone figured out how to do it.

This is possible, through Routed Interface VPN Tunnels. This is a document I made for my clients : ----------------------------------------------- Broadcasting through a VPN Tunnel • Create a routed interface VPN tunnel between the 2 locations o VPN Interface mode o Static route to the remote subnet o Firewall rule that accepts traffic to the remote subnet • Enable following function on the newly created vpn interface : o Config system interface <enter> o Edit <routed-vpn-interface> <enter> o Set broadcast-forward enable ----------------------------------------------- Wim

My Fortigate: Fortigate-100A 3.00,build0483,070703 I' m a little unclear on your suggestions above. First, will this work over dialup PPTP? Second is it all done over the CLI? I' m not very familiar with the CLI. Do you have more explicit instructions? Thanks so much for your help!

It' s indead a CLI setting. My setup is IPSec VPN, fixed tunnels. With the " routed interface vpn tunnel" , you create in fact a new interface in your system>network, and on this interface it' s possible to enable broadcasting features. Just like dmcushing asked. PPTP I never tested. Sorry. Wim
