Very slow PC since installing FortiClient

Hi all, I have a client who reports extremely sluggish performance since installing FortiClient. Apparently taking over 30 seconds to open the start menu, and Outlook not opening at all unless FortiClient is killed. The machine was fine before. Has anyone seen anything like this? Its FortiClient 3.0.308 on XP Pro SP2. Thanks, James

Do you have another AV running? What you have described is exactly what you would see with 2 AV engines running on the system.
FCSE > FCNSP 2.8 > FCNSP 3.0 (Former) FCT

Looks like that' s a kind of lock up. This only happens when FortiClient' s AV co-exists with another AV product.

Actually this is exactly what I' ve seen when installed with AV next to another AV. Outlook, at least connecting to Exchange, will never open and everything else takes a completely unacceptable amount of time.

Many thanks for your entries! That was exactly my problem. Stopping the FortiClient AV returned my PC to a working condition.
