Verify internet availabity uptime
Hi everyone,
I want to evaluate an internet availability connection from ISP for a period of time, but I have already checked in my FortiGate, I don't see where I can check the uptime of an uplink, it means since the system is up, how many hours the internet has been available, taking into account the time of interruptions and times out.
I have only seen where I can see the system uptime, which shows the time my device has been up since it was turned on.

Hi,
You can setup SDWAN and setup performance sla so whenever the link is down you will get the event logs and from there you can identify when was the last time the link was down.
If not using sdwan you can use link monitor

In my system logs I can see the following:
- "pppd is exiting": When the PPPoE connection is down
- "PPPoE status report": When the PPPoE connection is UP again
Hope it helps.

Hello Jma
If you have PPPoE connection then you should find the information in the logs (should be in system logs).
If you have SD-WAN with link status you should also find the same info in the logs as well.
Otherwise I don't think you can find this information.

For SD-WAN it tests the link at regular intervals via ping or other (depends on your config).
For PPPoE there is no test, it just detects the PPPoE connection is down or up and logs it accordingly.

SD-WAN and health checks would be my first choiche. Hoewever if you don't want to move to SD-WAN you also have the option of using a link monitor: https://community.fortinet.com/t5/FortiGate/Technical-Tip-Link-monitor/ta-p/197504
