Is it possible to use Fortigate models with internal sorage drives as a file server sharing on a LAN?

No and why would you want to do that? The Firewall should be just that a firewall, the excessive load and IO would not be good.

By design, Fortigate is a UTM, created to harden a network's security infrastructure. Even if you make it work, its performance as a "file server" would be quite poor.
