Urgent-FG restarts by itself

please someone help... FG-300 restarts automatically by itself, everything related to power(cable,ups,...)was tested but it still reboots. Any help would be greatly appreciated, Kamyar

What do the logs say about this ? Did you start a ticket to Fortinet ? Seems to be a hardware problem; anyway you could use an UPS to see what s happening.

event logs just shows " system restart" ,no more details, if i config syslog server does FG send " Event Logs" to the server? Best, Kamyar

How often it' s restarting? Did you try with the UPS test ? The syslog server will collect all the logs you send, not only the Event logs, still I think would be more useful to use a SNMP server in order to collect information about the HW status of the equipment.

get a serial console capture setup, this should tell you exactly what the problem is. As the gui and syslog crashes no messages are seen usually. Also, does it have a hard drive or is it part of a cluster? a dead hard drive can cause this, especially when in a cluster.

I recently updated the firmware on my FG-800 to 3.0 MR7 and after a couple weeks it did a system restart two days in a row. I was using internet at the time these restarts happened and it seemed to cause a 5-15 second outage... not the 2 minute outage I would expect with a reboot/power cycle. I have a ticket open with support - current status is " researching"

15 second restart? I would love that! Maybe resources are being maxxed out... Conserve mode??

Follow up to my current system restart issue; I have a ticket open with Fortigate Support, I' ve capture console messages at time of failure that show a kernel panic, I' ve downgraded firmware from 3.00-b0726(MR7) to 3.00-b0662(MR6 Patch 1) at Supports request to see if it is firmware related. Current support status is PendBugFix.

Kernal panic, is 99 out of 100 times an upload of a corrupt image. Please connect console cable, boot, select boot options, format boot device and tftp new image to the fg unit then restore config
