Upgrade Fortiweb to a new stable version

Hello,

We are planning to upgrade our FortiWeb HA cluster from version 7.0.9 to a newer stable release.

However, we noticed that several versions are available (7.2.x, 7.4.x, 7.6.x, 8.0.x), and it is not clear which versions are considered as mature or feature.

I tried to check whether Fortinet provides a Recommended Release for FortiWeb, similar to what is available for FortiOS, but I couldn’t find any official guidance.

Additionally, the upgrade path does not seem to be available on the Firmware Images console.

Could you please advise:

  • Which FortiWeb version is currently recommended for production?
  • The correct upgrade path from 7.0.9?
  • Any known limitations or considerations for HA environments?
  • Anything more that i should take in considerations for the new version ?

Hi Simo

Both 7.4.11 and 7.6.6 are mature and both are recommended for production. Note the M character in the file name like this one: FWB_VM64-v7.6.6.M-build1097-FORTINET.out

Both are still supported until their EoS date in 2028 (check Product Life Cycle on support portal for more details).

Regarding the upgrade path to 7.4.11, the release notes doc mention this:

To upgrade from FortiWeb 7.0.x: Upgrade directly.

Regarding the upgrade path to 7.6.6, the release notes docs mention this:

To upgrade to FortiWeb 7.6.6 : Upgrade to version 7.6.2 before proceeding to upgrade to version 7.6.6.

To upgrade from FortiWeb 7.0.x to 7.6.2 : Upgrade directly.

Ref:  https://docs.fortinet.com/document/fortiweb/7.6.6/release-notes/81434/upgrading-from-previous-releas...

You should read the release notes to know all considerations.
