Unable to manual upgrade firmware with 7.2.11

Hello,

we have two firewalls. We started upgrading the first over automatic upgrade -> 7.0.17 to 7.2.11 to 7.4.8. This was fine. The second had to be updated manually -> 7.0.17 to 7.2.11 ok. Now the upgrade moved to System/Fabric Management. However there I can't choose a file for upgrade anymore. This is availalbe in 7.4.8 again but not in 7.2.11. How can this be solved?

Kind regards,

Hi David,

The greying out of the upgrade option could be triggered due to below reason discussed in the article, try canceling federated-upgrade using the steps shown in the article below and see if the upgrade option stops being greyed out.

https://community.fortinet.com/t5/FortiGate/Troubleshooting-Tip-Unable-to-upgrade-FortiGate-Firmware...

If the above still does not work,

1) Collect diagnostic outputs using below which could shed some light on other possible triggers. https://community.fortinet.com/t5/FortiGate/Technical-Tip-Fortinet-Support-Tool-Google-Chrome-Extens...

2)As the last option, can consider using cli option to load the firmware and upgrade (assuming its a standalone unit and not HA, in which case we need to check if the units have to be upgraded individually):

https://docs.fortinet.com/document/fortigate/7.2.5/administration-guide/596131/upgrading-individual-...

Let us know if the issue gets resolved with the first suggestion mentioned above, thanks.

Regards,

Rudresh

maybe its a cosmetic issue.

Unfortunately it is not cosmetic issue. Also on the master firewall - we are no more able to upgrade via local file.

That's unfortunate.

Of what models is this cluster formed of , out of curiosity ?

Hi @DavidMicheler ,

You must have click on fabric upgrade.

Can you try upgrading by clicking on the upgrade as shown in below image and see if file upload option loads now.

Hi David,
May I know the Fortigate model and what the web browser is?

Toshi_Esumi

I had the same question. If older model of hardware, 7.4.x might not be available.
