When is FortiOS v7.4.4 expected to be released? I checked and 7.4.3 is still the latest FW version.

FortiOSv7.4.4 was already released.
You may try to check on the support portal support.fortinet.com

Firmware Download:

Login to https://support.fortinet.com >> Support >> Firmware Download >> Download >> Select Target branch > Find device model > Download the firmware by clicking the HTTPS tab on the side.

Some of our IP-SEC VPNs lost communication with the main HUB for about 1 minute, then came back to normal, then fell back. The VPN tunnels were displaying UP, strange problem, following the rebuilding of the tunnels, it seems resolved.... to be continued https://mobdro.bio/

Hello,

Yes that version should be the correct one. 
You can upgrade via the security fabric or from Fortiguard in addition to the manual upgrade.
