Unable to install FortiClient VPN in Windows 11

Hello,

installation of FortiClient VPN ends in an error "FortiClient VPN Wizard ended prematurely because of an error."

I am running Windows 11 as Parallels VM on an ARM (MacBook Air M2) platform.

I executed Installation .exe as Administrator, i disabled Windows Defender temporarily. Any further ideas?

Best Regards

Andi

Hi @AndiHNX

FortiClient is not supported on ARM processor as for now. You can try the FortiClient from windows store which is no longer supported by Fortinet

Thanks for your reply!

So I tried the other way, using the App from the MS Appstore. Unfortunately I get a SSLVPN Error: Code -30008000(V1.0.1041). Invalid Authentication cookie. Authentication failed.

Maybe the URL of the Server address (SAML Authentication) is different from the native Windows App?! I have to talk with our VPN Admins who are able to see Logs on remote side.

Is there a recommended solution for this?

What are people doing who need IPSEC VPN on Windows 11 ARM?

Just to isolate the issue can you try to login with a local user?

Do you mean as Windows local user? I am! On remote side I have to use my company credentials (Domain E-Mail Address plus MS Authenticator PIN).

I dont even think that this version of FortiClient is supporting SAML authh

Also double check that you’re on client 6.4.7 or 7.0.2. Any other version is not certified for Windows 11. If you are on EMS, there are manual steps IT needs to do to make the server side compatible with those versions.

I don't know where to download older versions than actual. That's 7.05, I guess.

The App from MS Appstore claims to be Version 1.0.1041.

Hi @AndiHNX , not sure if you have resolved the issue. But I'm currently also using Parallels on MAC running windows 11 pro, I ran into the same issue as where FortinetVPN couldn't be downloaded on Parallels I myself am using a M3 macbook pro. What worked for me is downloading the VPN on the mac instead of on the VM. Since parallels uses the macbooks connection, its working for me so far, maybe you can give it a shot as well?
