Unable to access internet after FORTICLIENT is installed

Does FORTICLIENT blocks internet traffic while accessing through the web browser? Because i am currently experiencing this issue after the FORTICLIENT is installed. All i could do is ping & resolve any internet host in the command prompt on windows xp SP3, the same cannot be accessed through any web browser (IE8,firefox/google chrome). I have installed only the FORTINCLIENT & no other packages like Anti-virus/Web filter. I will be able to browse only when i shutdown the FORTICLIENT. THis happend without even connecting to the vpn. It just doesn' t allow me to access Internet when it is placed in the windows task bar. FORTINET CLIENT ve. 4.1.2.138

Hi Anand, could post your hardware details please? We also noticed some of that problems, but with Win7; There' s a workaround posted in this forum that involves edit the registry to disable FortiProxy, do a search within the forum for last 3 months posts.

Hi Abelio & Sathar, My problem is, just after installing the FORTICLIENT i will not be able to browse the internet. Please be informed that this is happening without me connecting to the vpn. So there is no involvement in what FORTIGATE hardware i use.

i am also talking abt the forticlient software version... ;) it seems that the installed version of FC is not bug released for win-7 so install FC: v4.0 MR1 Patch 1

Hi All, Problem got solved when i played with the windows registry. Below is what i tried & could able to succeed in solving the problem. Please do the following on Client computer 1. On the Windows command prompt, run ‘net stop fortishield’ 2. Go to Start > Run > type regedit 3. Disable FortiProxy service. Change the registry key for 4. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Fortinet\FortiClient\FA_FORTIPROXY\enabled value from 1 to 0 5. Reboot your client machine and test to access.
