UPGRADING FW ON FG60B

The last update I did on a clients FGT60B was last year. I updated to 4.00 build 0092. I see that there are various MR releases, and newer versions up to 4.0.4. What rules govern doing updates? Do they have to be incremental updates, or can I skip the in between, and go to 4.0.4, the way Apple does with the OS 10 combined updates? I have browsed through the release notes, but none of them really spell out the process. Any clarification would be helpful. Thanks for help! ....JIM....

the release notes always describes the supported upgrade path, all you need is to read them and take a backup of your configuration.

Well, I did read the release notes for 4.0.2 and 4.0.3, and neither one mentions upgrading from FortiOS 4.00. In both notes it only says " Upgrading from FortiOS 3.00 MR6/MR7" and back again. Now in the release notes for 4.0.4, it does mention upgrading from 4.00. So I guess I can skip the in between ones, correct? Does anyone know if it is possible to save any of the log files to a USB thumb drive on the FGT60B? ....JIM....

its safe to go from 4.00 to 4.0.4, no you cannot save them to a USB, you need either a remote syslog or a FortiAnalyzer to save your logs " outside" the firewall.

You can save them to a USB that' s connected to the workstation. Not sure if that' s your goal though.
