Our Fortigate 60C has always been connected to our unmanaged switches through a single cable attached to the LAN1 port. Is there any advantage to connecting each switch to a different LAN port? Or to connecting any single device to a LAN port? I have a vague sense that our current setup is somehow inefficient, because each of four 24-port switches are daisy-chained with the last in the series connected to the Fortigate.
The Fortigate is configured in switch (physical) mode.
Our network traffic is what I subjectively consider to be "light," and our users never complain about internal network speed, so I'm not looking to make a change. Just trying to deepen my understanding of basic networking.
Thanks.
Eric
