Status LED off

Just bought a FG-50A. It is working for a few days. Now the internal port is not working anymore. I can not ping or http to internal port IP address. I also noticed the Status LED is OFF after FG-50A boot, buring boot the Status LED flashes. Does any one know the Status LED should be on or off after it boots??? Libei

That light should be on. Try connecting to the console port when you boot it next time, see if anything interesting shows up.

The status led being off is normal, if the internal light isnt on, check that it is correctly cabled to the switch and that both ends of the cable are plugged in properly. If it still doesnt light, try setting the port setting to a manual setting rather than leaving it to autoduplex. I suspect you will find the cable is not plugged in correctly though.

Thanks guys. Base on the Installation Quide Status LED should be on, but in real life Status LED is off after system boot. I figured out the problem I have. When I have a PC connect to my Novell server via FG-50A at the same time I change firewall policy to block some ports, then I will lose connection to my internal ports from my PC, even I change firewall policy back to allow all from Internal to WAN I still have problem to connect to internal port. The only way I can make it work is to load firewall default setting. I think somehow the firewall OS corrupted. I can replicate this problem easily. I send an email to Fortinet support on June 28 but so far no response from their support team.

One of the firmware revisions changed the status light behavior. They obviously didnt update the manuals, or the manual was printed before that update.
