One of the factors in the original ordering of the 60D was that model still had local disk for logging, as this small business does not have a syslog server or similar.
Now forticloud free with 1GB storage was being used for logging and as the 60D firmware upgraded disabled more and more utilization of the flashdrive - well at least we had Forticloud.
Then without warning Forticloud changed from 1GB to 7 days -- and suddenly a bunch of log history was lost.
And now the firewall is toast as well.
We still have the support and services bundle through 2018 but now I have to decide:
Stay with FTG
If so, what model - and does a local storage device matter (Why not just use a USB3 or thunderduck port :)
And how the heck do you figure out pricing for the cloud products?
[ul]So:
Do I get a new 60D? Is there functional value to switching to the 70D if the 60D was doing ok? is the 70D a current product?
Why can't I find product comparative pages for 60D vs 70D vs 60E, etc on Fortinet site -- heck the site doesn't even admit to there being things between 60 & 90.
I look forward to any thoughts on which hardware and what services to get to replace the melted 60D.
Now go to by a big bag a rice for some hard drives (fire hose water is not a computer's friend)

Solved! Go to Solution.
Just some thoughts about hardware options:
- the 70D is a diskless model
- if you want the 70D specs with internal SSD, get a 90D
- the new E series has very promising performance and is available with internal SSD as well (51E, 52E)
...BUT...it will only run FortiOS v5.4
the v5.4 branch of firmware offers nice new features but is still in it's infancy (IMHO). I'd only consider it after patch 3 or 4. Not using all the fancy stuff will probably work flawlessly though.
Seems like FTNT is heavily adopting their cloud offerings. May be a bit early to decide upon.
www.avfirewalls.com is a good site for getting ballpark pricing. I've bought from them also and they have always been fast and easy to deal with. Now working with a local vendor, but I still use this site for reference.

you can also log to a hosted Fortianalyser if you don't want to buy one or subscribe to Forticloud.
2 FGT 100D + FTK200
3 FGT 60E FAZ VM some FAP 210B/221C/223C/321C/421E
I guess my question is what is the value of the local disk when they now say don't turn on any features that use it or the your device might not last?
?
I can't even find the 51E under the product list for the website.
