Hi guys,
I want to know what is the consequence/effect/result if I create a new traffic shaping(shared type) and applied it to 2 policies that using different WAN port? example:
1 policy:
source:internal
destination:metroE
2 policy:
source internal
destination:internet

Hi tnhafiz,
Source and destinations do not matter when it comes to shaping traffic. Traffic shapers are seen as objects to the policies. Since you are using a shared shaper, the total bandwidth will be shared across each policy using that object.
If the traffic shaper is set to 20 Mb/s and policy 1 is currently using 15 Mb/s, policy 2 will only be able to use 5 Mb/s. We used the same shared traffic shaper on all rules going to our secondary datacenter, regardless of the WAN port it uses, because our secondary datacenter charges us if we exceed our bandwidth limits for that site.
Hope this helps.
FortiOSman,
