Hello, I’m looking for a 10G Single mode SFP module to connect a switch and Fortinet routers over a short distance (around 2–10 meters). Could you recommend the right option?
Best regards,

I never used single mode SFP/SFP+ for any short range. But that's my concern too if it's very short distance. If receiving optical power is -2 dBm or above it could damage the optic.

This is the official datasheet from FTNT.

If I were to pick one multi-mode SFP+ (technically not SFP) for internal datacenter use from the list, I would use FN-TRANS-SFP+SR. "SR" part indicates multi-mode. "LR" is for single-mode.
Some optic vendors sell Fortinet compatible SFP/SFP+. You can pick one of those as well. FGT/FSW generally don't check the vendor ID to reject those non-genuine ones unlike Cisco.

I'm sorry. Obviously I didn't read your post carefully. You're looking for a single mode SFP+. Then the answer should be FN-TRANS-SFP+LR. Not sure why it has to be a single mode though.

The rest of the infrastructure is single-mode, so to avoid any mistakes it’s best to use an SM SFP. One more question: could the FN-TRANS-SFP+LR be too powerful in terms of transmit power for short distances? Would an optical attenuator be required in that case?

So it seems that the only option is a multimode SFP. Thank you for your help. Best regards
