Setting up fortiAP with fortigate as WLC

Hello. on our net i am trying to set up a fortiap on a diffrent subnet than what the wireless controller is on. I am using a fortigate 100D with patch 5.0.2 and a fortiAP 28c with 5.0 on the fortigate i go to Wifi & switch controller > wifi network > SSID and create a new one. I choose: name - fortitest type - wifi ssid traffic mode - tunnel to wireless controller ip/network mask - 10.1.29.50/255.255.255.0 admin access - https ping dhcp server - relay to our dhcp 10.1.29.250 wifi settings: ssid - fortitest2 wpa/wpa2 personal aes and nothing more, then i go to the forti ap on 10.1.29.50 and set these settings: network conf: address mode - static management vlan - 0 local ip - 10.1.29.50 local mask - 255.255.255.0 gateway ip 10.1.29.1 admin access - http uplink - ethernet ac discovery - static ac control port - 5246 ac ip addr - 10.1.28.4 (the ip address the fortigate is on) clear text or DTLS Then on the fortigate i can see the fortiAP. and i authorize it. and then it gets stuck att the status connceting when i go into managed fortiap > acces point How do i troubleshoot this issue? the Radio' s are still disabled on the fortiap and i want it to send the wifi ssid fortitest and give out dhcp addresses through our dhcp.

The wireless network you configured (10.1.29.50) is the subnet wireless clients will be assigned. The AP itself should be given an IP in the same subnet as the Fortigate interface it' s connecting to so 10.1.28.x

As per the firmware patch release notes you may want to consider upgrading the firmware on the AP. Note the 28C isn' t listed, but there is 5.0.4 firmware for that model.
