I am searching for docs that do a better job of explaining the Fortinet switch architecture and philosophy. Specifically references to the use of the ASICS to expand on why there are separate commands for interface, physical-port, and phy-mode, for example.
It is not intended to be a gripe, I just want to understand the philosophy and or science.
We have 548’s, 1048’s, 3032’s all which require a reboot to change SFP+ ports phy-mode for example, which demand a second switch to keep application services highly available.
