SSL Inspection feature and the type of licensing model.

Dears,

I need to renew my Fortigate device and also I want to add SSL Inspection feature. 
My question does SSL inspection is restricted by the type of licensing model? either it is  UTM, or Enterprise licensing or it doesn't depend on the type of licensing ?.

Hello,

SSL inspection feature comes by default and there is no separate license to activate SSL inspection. However, if somebody wants to do an SSL inspection for any data traffic but does not have any UTM profiles(license required) attached to that policy then pretty much no separate scanning will be done and the packet will be decrypted, and checked for layer 3/4 and encrypted back again. No threat scanning in terms of the application layer will be done as such in the absence of other UTM profiles.
