I would like to connect a FortiGate 50G-SFP firewall to a USW Pro Max 24 PoE switch. Can I use the Ubiquiti UF-MM-1G SFP and plug it into the switch’s SFP+ port?
My second question is whether the same Ubiquiti UF-MM-1G SFP would be compatible with the SFP port on the FortiGate 50G-SFP.
From what I’ve read, FortiGate usually works with third-party SFPs (e.g., Cisco).
Hi @revat6 ,
To connect a FortiGate 50G-SFP firewall to a USW Pro Max 24 PoE switch using the Ubiquiti UF-MM-1G SFP, consider the following:
- The Ubiquiti UF-MM-1G SFP is designed to be compatible with Ubiquiti devices. If the switch's SFP+ port supports 1G SFP modules, it should work. However, confirm with Ubiquiti documentation or support to ensure compatibility.
- FortiGate devices generally support third-party SFP modules, including those from Cisco.
- However, compatibility is not guaranteed for all third-party modules.
- It is recommended to test the Ubiquiti UF-MM-1G SFP with the FortiGate 50G-SFP to ensure it functions correctly.
- Ensure that both devices are configured to support the same speed and duplex settings.
- Verify that the fiber type and connectors are compatible with the SFP module specifications.
Best regards,
Erlin
