I've got an interesting issue I don't know how to fix it.
I've set up the Restrict Google account to specific domain option in our Web Filter. This is to keep students on their school email accounts. But when this is set up, the URL Filter stops blocking certain sites.google.com websites (games). I'm assuming these are tied together somehow.
Is there a workaround to this?

Yes, google sites is a bit annoying to manage but I've done the following:
sites.google.com is categorized as web hosting, and I've blocked it on the Student filter profile.
For us this caused a slight problem since we host our school district is hosted on google sites, to fix it I did the following:
Most domain based google sites have the following URL pattern : [link=https://sites.google.com/a/yourdomain.tld,]https://sites.google.com/a/yourdomain.tld.[/link] You can allow *sites.google.com/a/* and deny *sites.google.com*.
You'll have to update your overrides once in a while to allow a genuine useful site, but so far it's been pretty rare.
Also customized url filter could block Internet access to specific URL.
