Resolved "Fail"

Hi All,

 

Can anyone please help explained what is mean by Resolved "Fail" in smtp log. Our customer is having old and new fortimail. The old version is 5.1 and the new version is 5.2.5. In the old version, when they send email resolved is 'OK', but in the new firmware resolved is "Fail". they both using the same config, and already can connect to internet and can resolve dns. Please advice. Thank you very much for your help.

It means the source IP wasn't resolved. If this is outgoing mail then the source IP is likely a private IP which by default resolution is disabled. 

 

You can try this at CLI:

#config system dns
#set private-ip-query enable
#end
