Replace FGT 500E with FGT 400F
Hello Team,
now I have a cluster of FGT 500E with five vdom that manage via FortiManager. I need migrate all configurations of FGT 500E on a new cluster FGT 400F. Now on FGT 400F i have configured only the management interface.
what is the best way to migrate configurations? Configure the new cluster locally and then hook it up to the fortimanager or the other way around?
Thanks for the support

Hi,
1- Download the configuration of the current FortiGate 500E
2- Upgrade 400F to the same version as 500E
3- Downlad the configuration of 400F
4- Copy the header and the version of the configuration and paste it into the configuration of 500E (previously downloaded)
5- Import the 400F policy to Manager and delete the previous one.

Hi Luca
As per my knowledge, FMG can't help for such migration. So the solution is to migrate, then integrate the new FGT with your FMG.
For the config migration, in case you are not able to do it manually then you will need help of FortiConverter, which is embedded with Enterprise license, or can be purchased separately (Cloud service is better for you).
For manual migration this post can help.
The main points to retain are to align the firmware on both FGTs to the same version, and to correctly map the interfaces from the old to the new (in case they are not identical).
