There is no link or document about the recommended OS, we recommend being at the last build on your version. The latest build are the most updated, based on services and feature you are using you have to decide based on the known issue mentioned into the releases notes.

Keep in mind that you need first upgrade to 6.0.7, then upgrade to 6.4.9 or 6.6.0, else the following
message will be displayed: Image validation failed: The firmware image model number is
different from the appliance's.
