Reccomendations for FortiClient on Terminal server.

Hi everyone,

We have recently "converted" from Trend OfficeScan to FortiClient and EMS.

Now we are facing some performance issues in regards to our terminal servers.

We get complaints from our users saying their session freeze. When we investigate the issue, it is normally either the fortiproxy.exe or the fmon.exe process running at 100% CPU.

If we kill the process it will respawn and behave normally in terms of CPU usage.

We have followed Citirx best practice for Antivirus solutions when it comes to exclusions, but we are still facing problems. Seems to be often related to user log on/log off.

Our servers run Windows 2008 R2, Citrix XenApp 6.5, Citrix Provisioning server, User profile management from Citrix with streaming profiles.

In regards to provisioning server, we have installed FortiClient to a persistent disk in order to prevent updates being re-applied at every boot.

Is there anyone in here that could share some experience with us regarding FortiClient and Terminal servers?

Anyone facing the same type of problems?

 Regards

Odd Gaute Grondalen

I've been on vacation for four weeks and was really hoping for some feedback on this....

Is there really no one in this forum that run FortiClient as AV solution for Citrix Terminal servers?

I am in the same boat!  we currently have Kaspersky running on our Terminal servers, but we can migrate off until we know this works reliably.

Just curious, how many users are on your TS servers on average ?  we have about 30-40 users per TS server.

Hi.

Currently we are using a strategy where we have small TS' machines, but many. So we have in average 15-20 users pr server.

We have been in contact with support and was sent a pre-release of the fortiClient 5.6.1 version. This version have been fixed when it comes to this issue. However, due to license issues on the EMS server we have not been able to test it yet.

If you contact support they should be able to help you with the 5.6.1 version, and hopefully that should make things work better. In addition, they suggest scheduling the updates of hours, because they often cause CPU spikes.

Good luck.
