Hi Umesh,
The issue of RDP connection freezing over SSL VPN tunnels can be related to the configuration of the SD-WAN setup. Here are steps to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue:
- Check SSL VPN Configuration: Ensure that the SSL VPN is configured correctly with the appropriate source interfaces. For example, if using port4 and port14, verify they are set as source interfaces in the SSL VPN settings.
- Verify SD-WAN Configuration: Confirm that the SD-WAN is set up with the correct member interfaces and volume ratios. Port4 should have a higher volume ratio if it is intended to be the primary link.
- Preserve Session Route: Ensure that the `preserve-session-route` is enabled on the interfaces used for the SSL VPN. This helps maintain session continuity.
- Monitor SD-WAN Behavior: Use virtual-wan-link debug logs to monitor the behavior of the SD-WAN during the RDP session. Check if the default route is being uninstalled and reinstalled, which could cause session interruptions.
- Health Check Configuration: Verify that the health check is correctly configured and that it includes all necessary member interfaces.
- Review Load-Balancing Method: Ensure that the load-balancing method is set to volume-based, as this can affect how traffic is distributed across the interfaces.

Hi Umesh
- If I understand your issue, it affects not only RDP but other protocols as well, since you said it is the same with ping, right?
- Is it FortiClient VPN or FortiClient (licensed)?
- Is it the same behavior with other versions (7.4.2 and 7.2.8)
- Did you try when connecting the client on another internet connection?
