Query multiple FortiGates to get FortiOS version and put that in some DB or file

Hi,

I work for an MSP and we have many clients with many models of FortiGates and many different FortiOS version (6.0 to 7.4 (yes i know!!)) and up til now, FortiOS versions of the FortiGates we centralized in an Excel file which is never up to date

We have FMG for some of the clients but not all. Some of the clients are in our FortiCloud but not all.

Maintaining a documentation of the versions of FortiOS we manage is becoming a nightmare, especially when there is a patch to install but only to specific FortiOS versions

I am searching for a solution to maintain some report or a DB or an excel file automatically with REST API or any other way since our SNMP software can query the FGTs but not use the information in any kind of useful report.

Does anyone here have ever done this and if so, can you help me with this?

Probably FortiManager can help.

Otherwise some python scripting with REST API can make such CSV file.
