I have a problem in adding fortimail in fortigate After I entered the ip address ,username, and password which I use to authenticate fortimail the red alarm shows "unable to connect" How can I solve this problem?

You need to enable the REST API feature in the FortiMail first. Goto the FortiMail CLI and enter the following commands:
config system global
set rest-api enable
end
You should now be able to add it to the FortiGate.
I tried the above method but the problem exists
the error : Failed to connect still appears
Did you do a any "diag sniffer packet <interface> 'host x.x.x.x'" and look for any 3way tcp session? You can also dump from either end ( FGT or FML )

Yes this is IP, username and password for the FortiMail.

After a long time troubleshooting we find the cause of the problem when we configured fortimail we changed the default HTTPS port number 443 to other custom port so fortigate is set to listen to port 443 not other port so when we set it back to 443 It works Thanks all for your kind support.
