PING DEVICE BY SERVER NAME BETWEEN DIFFERENT VLAN AND OR SECONDARY IP OF

Hi every one!! I've setup a secondary IP on my main Switch interface.

My primary is 192.168.2.xx and the secondary is 192.168.80.xx, when i'm on the

192.168.80.xx I can ping device in the 192.168.2.xx by their IP but not to their server name...

Can someone help me with this one,

When you call a system by it's name, you are using broadcast requests that can not pass from layer 3 devices.

You can install a WINS Server on a windows server. It works like DNS. Your client wins should be configure with WINS Server IP address.

That s a good solution , but instant that install a DNS server on a windows server I have install it to the fortigate unit.

Everythings run fine, I mean I can now communicate from the 192.168.80.1 to 192.168.2.1 using the windows name station.

But When i<m using the VPN im not able to ping 192.168.80.1 network so to communicate with the device name not working too.
