Online Status indicator for Assets is incorrect

In the 'Assets' section of the Fortigate, it shows devices as 'online,' but then for the same devices, shows last seen as hours or days ago.  What is needed to ensure 'online' status represents truly online?

I believe there should be some sort of traffic that needs to be passed

That is not the case from our observations.  'Last seen' appears to be accurate.  If 'Last seen' is hours or days ago, then the device cannot be online.
