One way Ping

Hey everyone, hope I can get some help with something. Very new to Fortinet and have two locations that I need to setup a VPN for. I have watched the online video cookbook and followed those steps for my two boxes and setup the IPSec VPN. Location 1 - 10.8.138.0/23 network Location 2 - 10.8.22.0/24 network I created both of my Phases, putting in the right IP addresses for each...I' ve triple checked everything, Have my Firewall objects created correctly for both, making sure the Interfaces are set correctly at each location, made my policies and moved them to the top of the list, however........ What is happening is that from Location 1 to Location 2 I am NOT able to ping. However from Location 2 to Location 1, and I can ping and access everything as needed. I' m almost feeling its something simple, I have properly working internet in both locations but I just cannot figure out this ping and what I might be missing. Thanks so much

Thank you so much Ede! That makes sense now!! I will probably try to do this with our VPN. We have two phone systems in each location that need to use the VPN to make calls between buildings or transfer calls, however those calls are being dropped or never connected. It worked before we switched to these Fortinet boxes. We had Cisco routers before and an old cisco VPN configured, which i never touched or understood, and it worked good, but for some reason, its not working great with this new system. If the calls are connected, they are dropped within a few seconds...its really strange! Not sure what is going on there either.

VoIP is def. worth a new thread, in a different forum. If you specify the brand of your PBX it might be that someone else has already configured it - with or without success. You should be running FortiOS 4.3 on your FGT, there have been a lot of changes in respect to VoIP support between 4.2 and 4.3.

Well after I have the VPN in Interface mode, all my problems have disappeared. And before we setup these new boxes we put 5.0 build 3 on them. Thank you again so much for all your help! Everything is working perfectly!

So you' re a lucky one! There' s been a lot of chatter around here about glitches in v5 but if it works for you, all the better. I' m glad I could give you some pointers.
