So,
I'm trying to setup Observium with fortigate on the Left FW in the image running on Ubuntu.
Observium is installed and runs up in VM but I cannot add any device, its returns an error in both V1/V2c and V3, even though both Ubuntu and Fortigate can ping each other.
Error : https://postimg.cc/HJps3Ws4 (I have tried with and without Authentication and with all data such as UDP etc added, same error!)
Host file entry : https://postimg.cc/FkJPYJ89
I read somewhere, the community version does not add devices in this fashion, and need an entry in host file, however, when I look into the host file it already shows an entry pointing to the IP of the firewall.
I have tried all other possible solutions..
Anything I have missed ?

Have you enabled SNMP on the fortigate and added a community as well as adding the host ip address of the Observium system and set it to accept queries as well as enabling snmp version 1 or 2? I would suggest you get it working without authentication first, then move onto setting up snmp v3 with auth.
Hold on, what IP is the firewall? From the hosts file, it looks like that .5 IP is the local observium system. You should be using the IP of the firewall or localhost for the local observium box.
I have created community, set it to accept queries and send trap, and added host ip of Observium system..
Also the IP in the host file is of the Port 1 where we telnet the firewall on a machine through GUI.
I got it, the IP address was of a different interface and not the interface the Observium was connected to, changed it and now its up and running..
Still appreciate your assistance..
