Hi,
I find the OBM feature on FortiExtender very very useful.
https://docs.fortinet.com/document/fortiextender/7.4.4/admin-guide-standalone/957071/obm-management
Is similar functionality in FortiOS on Fortigate available as well ? How to use it ?
If not:
Any chance to get this implemented in upcoming releases ?
Thanks & BR
Frank
Hi @FranFisc1 ,
Out of Band management feature is available on the Fortigate but only as a part of HA configuration.
Here is the resource that might be helpful for you: https://docs.fortinet.com/document/fortigate/7.4.4/administration-guide/313152/out-of-band-managemen...
Moreover, you can submit a feature request to Fortinet for consideration in upcoming releases. Fortinet values customer feedback and continuously works on enhancing their products based on user needs and industry trends.
Thanks for your reply.
Unfortunately, "Out-of-band management with reserved management interfaces" on the Fortigates only has some similarity in the name,
but this is is something completely different than the FEX OBM feature.
on FEX, OBM means:
You can use the FEX as a remote serial console server:
You connect a USB-Serial Cable to the FEX USB Port and the Serial Console Port on
another device (i.e. a LAN Switch).
Then you ssh to the FEX CLI and
from there you can connect to the Serial Console of the LAN switch
trough your USB-Serial Cable to configure the switch remotely.
