Multiple Gateways

We have just upgraded to Version 2.8 of the Fortigate OS. We used to be able to have 2 gateways setup per static route as we have both a leased line and ADSL connection running at the same time. This feature no longer seems to be available, as we would like to do source routing and our web browsing traffic out our ADSL line. Can this still be done?

This is our setup. Internal = Internal Network DMZ = DMZ External = External Leased Line Port1 = ADSL Connection Internal -> Port1 Internal_All -> Port1 Always, Any Service, Accept, NAT

I have noticed that since we upgraded to 2.8 you can now only have 1 gateway per static route, where as you could have 2 with 2.5. This would have then worked without a hitch.

You can now create multiple gateways with the same weighting instead now, rather than a ' first, second' scenario. Although, i havent tested this in 2.8. Try it, just create another default route to the other gateway.

I did this but it changed the default route to the ADSL connection and was trying to send all traffic out that route. But it then stopped our leased line working which we host our website, mail server and VPN connection on.

did you make sure that the adsl link was the Second route in the list ? If it wasnt, move it down.

I' ve just tested it that again and it sends all the traffic out port1. The external port that goes quite.

If you change the distance so one is 10 and the other 11 it reads, Type Network Distance Metric Gateway Interface Static 0.0.0.0/0 10 0 62.173.69.1 external When you change it so they both read 10 it looks like this, Type Network Distance Metric Gateway Interface Static 0.0.0.0/0 10 0 62.173.69.1 external Static 0.0.0.0/0 10 0 82.152.9.41 port1

Hi I´m currently using this feature in 2.5MR9 to failover between two internet providers (ISP). I have seen the same problem and my solution was to downgrade to 2.5MR9 again. If u find out any solution to this, please let me know, if i find out anything i let u know. I did try som Policy routing, but the failover between my two ISP´s does not work OK, all current sessions hang, and all new sessions work. In 2.5MR9 both now och old sessions work. So i had to downgrade... /Johan
