More DHCP options

I' d like to have the ability to configure more than three arbitrary DHCP options. We ran into some issues setting up some Mitel IP phones in a remote office. To configure them through DHCP, you need to supply five options. We ended up working around the problem, but at the time it was pretty frustrating not to be able to configure all of the options.

Hi Whelk1, I am trying to configure the DHCP options for bringing up my Cisco IP Phones. I need to enter the tftp server IP. Tried reading up on it, but have not been able to configure the DHCP Options on the firewall. Could you give me some pointers on how to set the IP address of the TFTP server in the DHCP options please ? Your help would be greatly appreciated. Regards Shyam

You can configure Mitel sets with only three options at a time: set the " mitel ip phone" option, vlan, and priority in the main lease and then set the icp and tftp addresses with the same " mitel ip phone" option in the scope on the voice vlan. Haven' t tried the new DHCP options for v7 yet but that should be easier as long as all the handsets have recent firmware when they boot. For example: Lease 1: set option1 130 ' 4D4954454C2049502050484F4E45' set option2 132 ' 00000002' set option3 133 ' 00000006' Lease 2: set option1 130 ' 4D4954454C2049502050484F4E45' set option2 128 ' C0A81F65' set option3 129 ' C0A81F65' C0A81F65 corresponds to IP address of 192.168.31.101 in this example Sorry I can' t be of help for Cisco Phones - can' t you use a Cisco switch and the LLDP voice-vlan option instead? Never done it just read about it. Anyone else with an insight? In case you' ve not worked it out, all options have to be translated to hex (chunks of 8 I think) - best to sniff them with software that will decode the options just to check they are formatted correctly.

For Cisco phones try using option 150 for TFTP instead of 66. Seems to work for us.
