Mitigation of vulnerabilities in Fortigate 1500D

Hello, how can I mitigate vulnerabilities like cve-2016-0138 and cve-2017-8621 in fortigate 1500D, update the affected software is not an option. IPS signatures or Firewall rules perhaps, any idea?
