Meaning of " ANY" Services

I have a Fortigate-300A running firmware Fortigate-300A 3.00,build0480,070330. When constructing a firewall policy using " ANY" services I want to know what the meaning of " ANY" is. Does it mean " any and all existing protocols and services" or does it mean " any services defined in the Fortigate" ? The Administration guide seems to imply that it means " any existing" . There is a vast difference between the two concepts, so I just want to be sure. Thanks very much. Mitch

IMHO, ' Any' implies any UDP/TCP/ICMP traffic, with no protocol specification; the same meaning used by another firewall vendors

Basically wide open. Nothing blocked at all, or if denying, everything blocked.
