Map Area Corruption

Hi - when using a background Tiff image - fairly regularly I get an error in the Log panel  'One or more Errors occurred' and the Map screen has a red X - no other image - doesn't matter if I close the project and re open - it does not change - have to exit the program and relaunch, has happened with different graphic cards on my machine, its just the map area - I can still save work etc..

I have the same problem with a PDF. Did you ever find a solution to this?
