Login To Fortigate Firewall Disconnects In Less Than A Minute

Login To Fortigate Firewall Disconnects In Less Than A Minute

I am using a public internet to login as administrator through the wan interface.

Although wan interface is using a dynamic ip, I dont think the ip changes so fast.

After I login to the firewall, after less than 1 minute, it will jump back out to the login page.

What can be the cause of this issue?

I dont know why but the issue only happens when i use a free public wifi.

For secured connections it is ok.

Anyway it is the public wifi and not fortigate issue

Hello @BusinessUser

As I understand that you are facing issues with the Firewall getting logged out in less than a minute.
Kindly check the Idle timeout settings from the below document link.
https://docs.fortinet.com/document/fortigate/7.4.0/administration-guide/215451/setting-the-idle-time...

  1. Go to System > Settings.
  2. In the Administration Settings section, set the Idle timeout to up to 480 minutes.
  3. Click Apply.

Hope the above doc. link would be helpful for you.

Thanks,
Shaleni

Hello @BusinessUser

If you find yourself unable to log in from a public network, it's probable that you have trusted hosts

or a local-in-policy in effect. On the other hand, if you can log in but get logged out from the Fortigate after a certain period, this issue is likely linked to the Idle timeout setting.

I am sharing the link for trusted hosts and for Local-in-policy
