v5.6.6 as of now I am able to block Facebook while allowing messenger using the web filter but cannot login to messenger...

Yes you can block via control app, and use application override to permit messenger and block facebook:

I blocked "Web Filter" -> "General Interest - Personal" -> "Social Networking" category and created URL Filter.
messenger.com - Simple - Exempt - Enable fbcdn.net - Simple - Exempt - Enable
Users can login in https://www.messenger.com and use FB messenger.

How about if i want to use facebook but i want disable messenger?
ive tried using application control by adding signatures but it didnt work.
