We have 50 E, the Internet is too slow through FG 50E, from the ISP we are getting the same speed that they are suggesting. Does anybody help to resolve this issue?

Hi @eaglehij ,
Please run the HQIP test on the device and with the results open a Support Ticket.
If the HQIP test fails in the loopback interface/s, we can make RMA if you have the proper license.
Best Regards,
Vasil Dralio
for the HQIP test, do we need to test through the console port or is there any other way?
Hi @eaglehij ,
You can not check the interfaces with the HQIP test without connecting them with each other, you will have a comment like this:
- Please connect ethernet cables:
[WAN - Any of PORT1...PORT4]
So you need to have physical access to do an HQIP test.
Best regards,
Vasil
I have physical access, where is the option to do HQIP test?
Check your speed/duplex; there are cases in which auto-negotiation between your Firewall/Router and the ISPs modem dont negotiate the correct speed. Try hardcoding your speed and duplex. It could also point to a faulty patch cord. Try replacing it.
PS: Im assuming this 50E is a new device? Hopefully you do not have any traffic shaping configured on your Firewall. Double check that as well
We checked the speed from the ISP by connecting directly to the Computer, we got the maximum speed that the ISP provided. But only issue through the firewall, we haven't configured the traffic shaping
Hi @eaglehij ,
50E is a soho model for small network.
If your internet is PPPOE on the Fortigate, you may face some slowness due to this model does not have specialize CPU to handle PPPOE encapsulation related.
If you are using static IP on the WAN port, you may have better internet speed.
Here is the troubleshooting step you can do:
1. 1 PC direct to the Fortigate. Only between 1 PC, Fortigate, ISP.
2. Disable all security profiles on the policy IPv4.(eg: Antivirus, web filter, etc).
3. Change from PPPOE to static IP. (you may need to maintain your router for this).
Lets see if you have better improvement.
You can repair it, just heat the CPU with a hot air gun which will resolder the solders under the CPU. The problem comes from the ball solders under the CPU which degrade over time, you just have to melt them for a few seconds for the FG50E LAN ports to work again :
