Internet connection intermittent.

Hi All, I have a an issue with my fortiwifi 60b constantly dropping a connection to the internet. The ISP is SHAW in Canada and the modem i' m connected to is a Motorola Surfboard Cable DSL. I have a static IP. The ISP is telling me that they can see the modem all the time and they can see a device attached to it (the fortigate). The connection might be good for a few minutes then it goes again. So i' m connected into the console and i can ping via IP and Name then it stops, or i' m able to ping one and not the other or i get a few replies and the rest fails. During this its still showing as having a connection to the fortigate subscriptions services. My default gateway is correct, i' m using open DNS as name servers. Has anyone had strange issues like this before? I deploy at least 30 of these devices a year but generally its on another ISP' s network and with different modems and i have no problem but with SHAW and these Motorola modems me and my colleagues have nothing but trouble each time. Its got to a stage that we have started putting a switch in between the modem and the fortigate device which usually helps. Not this time. Please anyone, help me before i go crazy.......

Here' s a shot. Have you messed with the packet size? How about port speed/duplex? Perhaps auto is no good and you have to force a speed... From the CLI, try:
# dia hardware deviceinfo nic wan1(or 2)
Check the error counts. If they increase, you have some issues that need resolving.

Thanks for the suggestion. It turned out that the ISP believes the static IP they had given me was somehow being used elsewhere... They gave me a new IP and everything came up and works perfectly. How does that happen? Jokes.
