Hello, I need your help. I'm trying to set up an IPsec remote access VPN on FortiGate for the first time. Unfortunately, when I try to connect, after clicking "Connect," it shows "timeout while connecting to IP address." I was following this guide.
https://community.fortinet.com/t5/FortiGate/Technical-Tip-How-to-configure-IPsec-remote-access-with-...

If you can, please help me ā what could be the reason?
A few other information may be required to analyze the issue.
1. FortiGate Version
2. FortiClient Version
Fortigate is VM.
Firmware version is v7.4.7 build2731 (Mature)
FortiClient version is 7.4
I had the same problem with the latest 7.4 version of FortiClient. After searching for hours, I finally tried the latest 7.2 version, and it worked! I assume there is a bug in the 7.4 version.
I changed this and now debug shows me this description:
2025-07-21 07:38:51.150556 ike :shrank heap by 159744 bytes
Created on ā07-21-2025 07:45 AM Edited on ā07-21-2025 07:45 AM
and also in the system events action is negotiate and after that delete_phase1_sa
could you please explain what this means and help me, if possible?
