I am new to Fortinet and i will need help. I am trying to configure IPSEC VPN so the user from outside can connect to the private network and access files(shared drives). What we have is a Fortigate 50B. Regards, Jayson

Nice Jayson. By the way what kind of VPN are you going to configure now? 1. IPSEC Client based 2. IPSEC Site 2 Site VPN

Fine Alex. But I would like to know what sort of VPN that he is really looking for? On his post he was mentioned as fortigate 50B so I hope he may look for IPSec client based.... here is the link for http://docs.fortinet.com/cb/html/index.html#page/FOS_Cookbook/IPSec/cb_ipsecvpn_forticlient.html

Im looking to do Fortigate client based. This is out network setup. Firewall->1 server(AD,DNS,DHCP),1 Storage server I want to configure in such a way that remote users will get connected to vpn and access share folders from the storage. The internal Ip range is 192.168.1.x. Also is there a way to configure such a way that users get different IP range than the one we have in company private network and still have access to files.

Just an FYI: You should never leave the default IP scheme that is delivered with any SoHo device. Networks 192.168.0.x/24, 192.168.1.x/24, 192.168.2.x/24 & 192.168.3.x/24 are so commonly used that you more than likely will run into duplicated network issues down the road if you leave them. If you have the chance, change what Fortinet handed you....

Unfortunately it was setup by someone before me....

That doesn' t mean you are stuck with it.... With planning, you can change that with minimal interruption if the network isn' t too large.
